THE PUSH: Target is known for being cheap and chic. But now the retailer is making wants to be known as a destination for electronics to woo shoppers into its stores.
THE SERVICES: The company launching free telephone technical support for purchases, an electronics recycling program that offers store gift cards and expanded wireless phone offerings.
THE MARKET: The electronics business is becoming more competitive. Discounters such as Target and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. are competing with electronics specialists such as Best Buy as shoppers view the latest gadgets as necessities.
